It's a long way to Davies Channel, (33.46k's to be exact) but for fly fishing at least we have clearing water for sight fishing, plus it's a great day out and the fishing grounds all to ourselves.
Our camp location right on the bank of the McArther River. Just roll out of the "cot" get a coffeeand into the tinnie and off!
Now you know where, enjoy the fishing.
It can't get much better than this - Our 1st sunrise at King Ash Bay!
Couldn't believe our luck, the folks just pulled out the day before, tinnie right in front.
It was great to be on the water after 6 weeks avoiding the FLOODS!
Calm water's and the blazing sun.

Our neighbour - Les, got a couple of big one's on his last doy out before packing. The Barra had gone very quite as the water temperature had dropped 6 - 8 degree's within that many days.
Local swimmer!
Tinnie taking a rest on still waters.
Sue's checking there are no wild pigs!
Casting to a clear water run off, classic Barra ambush.
No Barra this time so off home!

Bing Bong - boat ramp.
We meet Jack & Robin on the track into KAB just after the BOG HOLE, more on that later. They gave us a breif run down of KAB. Jack is the local Garbo, & we compteted for treasure's at the local tip.
Vic Hislop, wife & new baby cruised past us in their house boat and anchored in Davies Channel. We where hooking into the Queenies and letting them go, they came over to see what we were doing, as they had never seen anyone fly fish (saltwater) We had no idea who these folks where and later meet them at the club bar.
Sue was getting "FFE" "Fly Fishing Elbow" so I made up a weighted fly, and had hooked 8 fish before my 1st hook up.
Coffee and sad to be leaving, getting motivated to pack!
Finally got close enough to get a photo, they are usually in the wateer before you within a 100 meter's.
Ron & Heather - ex cotton farmers have been visiting KAB for the past 14 years.
Bil & Lou Dixon, 1st visit with their Bushtracker.
This is the stretch of track we came thru that was a BOG HOLE, with no signage. As it happens I let a vehicle pass me about 1 k before the bog hole. Thus I could see it was deep and he kept to the left so I followed his track. Later found out there was a big hole on the right. Just goes to show never be in a hurry and it saved me having to walk thru the bog hole to check it out.
On our way to Darwin via Corroborree Billabong to fish for a week before our flight back to Thailand.
See ya!
